How to customize the icons
The first thing you have to do is locate the image that you want to use for your folder or app icon. Below are the steps:
- Open the image that you want to use as an icon for your folder in the Preview app.
- Press Command (⌘) + A to select the entire image.
- Press Command (⌘) + C to copy the image.
- Close Preview.
- Select the folder or application to which you want to change the icon.
- Press Command (⌘) + i to get information from it.
- At the top, click on the blue image of the folder, when doing so it will acquire a bluish glow.
- Press Command (⌘) + V to paste the image that you had copied. If it is an app, you may have to enter the computer password.
- Close the information window.
The icon of the folder or application icon will change instantly and will show the image that you have chosen.
How to remove the custom icon
If you want to set the folder or application icon with its default icon again, the steps are as follows:
- Select the folder or application to which you want to delete the custom icon.
- Press Command (⌘) + i to get information from it.
- At the top, click on the image of the current icon, when doing so it will acquire a bluish glow.
- Press the Delete key (←). If it is an app, you may have to enter the computer password.
- Close the information window.
